Released 27/01/11. Z. Z. Hill took his name inspiration from BB King and aspired to become a soul-blues singer of like reputation, only to be struck down with a heart attack just as his dream was coming true, with his Malaco recordings gainingmajor chart success. This Texas-born soul man paid his dues on Kent records in the 1960s, then signed with United Artists in 1972 and made two fine albums combining blues and soul-country performances. One with New Orleans musicians including Allen Toussaint and the Meters, and one at the Fame Studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Shout! Records is pleased to re-issue both of these in this CD package. Featured herein are R&B hit singles Ain’t Nothing You Can Do, Let Them Talk and Am I Grooving You The booklet includes several quotes from Z.Z. taken from an interview published in Living Blues magazine in 1982, and used with permission. Z.Z. later recorded for Columbia and Malaco, with I’m A Blues Man and the much-covered Down Home Blues creating huge impact shortly before his death in April 1984.
