Those restless Brazilian dance-poppers CSS are back for another round of perky, infectious tunes with their third album, La Liberacion. While the group certainly doesn't seem to have restrained itself in any way up to now, their new outing due out August 22nd through a cooperative effort between V2, Downtown Records, and, um, Cooperative Music finds them feeling their artistic freedom more fully than ever before, as the title might imply. For one thing, Lovefoxxx and company have collaborated with an interesting crew of guest contributors on this release, including Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream, Ratatat, and former David Bowie keyboardist Mike Garson. But that's not the only way in which CSS has expanded their outlook the band is also varying up its sonic maneuvers more than they have on past releases, and even their lyrical outlook is said to incorporate some new tricks this time around. The album was produced by band leader Adriano Cintra, and its first single, "Hits Me Like a Rock" (which includes Gillespie on vocals), is expected out shortly before the album drops. In the meantime, take a gander at the track list below, and try to imagine how Lovefoxx might put the "Grrr" in "City Grrrl."
