Charlotte Gainsbourg, daughter of the renowned French singer-songwriter and legendary iconoclast Serge Gainsbourg, has a fascinating career all of her own which demonstrates a muse as creative as her fathers. Her previous releases are comprised of 1986's “Charlotte for Ever”, 2006's “5.55” and her 2009 release “IRM”. Her latest album “Stage Whisper” is a collection of new, live and previously unreleased material it also features collaborations from artists who include Beck, Noah and the Whale, Connan Mockasin and front man of Irish band the Villagers, Conor O'Brien. The first disc is comprised of new studio material such as “Terrible Angels”, “White Telephone”and “Memoir”. The second disc on the other hand contains live variations of many of her most praised recordings like “Set Yourself On Fire”, “Trick Pony” and her cover of Bob Dylan's “Just Like A Woman”. The deluxe edition is completed by the presence of a high quality booklet and DVD containing footage taken from her 2010 world tour and the video for her new music video “Terrible Angels”. - A.B.
